Dermal Fillers

emervel-dermalDermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar in the skin that gives it its volume and structure. As we age our levels of hyaluronic acid deplete and the skin begins to lose volume, fold and sag. Dermal fillers are a quick and easy way to restore facial volume and reduce wrinkles.

What can I expect…

Treatment takes approximately 30 minutes. Your practitioner will prepare your skin by applying a local anesthetic cream to help reduce any discomfort. The injections may cause a little bit of localized discomfort but should not be painful. Following treatment, you may experience:

You will notice some improvement immediately afterwards and will continue to see improvements over the first few weeks as the hyaluronic acid starts to bind moisture and plump out the lips and skin folds.

How long will treatment last…

On average Dermal Fillers last between 6 and 9 months. They are not permanent and repeat courses of treatment will be required to maintain desired results. If you are not happy with your treatment results, Dermal fillers can be dissolved.

When are Dermal Fillers contraindicated…

You should avoid treatments if you are pregnant/breastfeeding or you are sensitive to hyaluronic acid or have autoimmune problems. We do not advise treatment if you have a current facial infection such as herpes/coldsores. Caution should be exercised if you have had any other recent (last 4 weeks) laser/chemical treatment or if you have a tendency to scar or hyperpigment. Please ask your Practitioner for further guidance on your suitability for treatment.
